Interesting because the information in these magazines has torn my family apart for generations and has done the same to hundreds of thousands of others.

This scripture is explains why what the watchtower says can divide and break up families because the watchtower speaks the Truth and sad to say most people aren’t interested in the Truth about God and about his wonderful future plans for Mankind, so when a family member accepts the Truth he or she may deal with opposition from Family members who do not want to accept the Truth and will outright show there displeasure and hatred for the family member who has changed his life to accept Jehovah God’s Truth. That’s why Jesus Christ said those in Matt 10:34,35.
It is not the magazine that has torn your family apart, it is the sin and unwillingness to do the will of God that torn every family apart. While the other is willing, others do not.
People are exercising free will! Jesus said this is to be expected, however the cost of knowing the truth and putting God 1st in your life (where He deserves to be) has profound power and direction in a terribly corrupt and divided world!

Stress free life? That’s not what I recall. The fear mongering in these magazines is toxic and extremely harmful to the psyche. I had nightmares and anxiety for years due to being told by these magazines that me and my family might die in Armageddon.

The new system that God has been promised is a ” stress free” reality. Example a person can be so stress when he saw his house being demolished unknown to him the reason behind. But once someone has explained to the person that it was being demolished because the original owner of the land is getting back what belongs to him with the purpose of making it even beautiful, clean and new. And then invite the dweller to be part of it. Would you really be stress instead of being thankful and be cooperative?

Also, you state “supposed to distribute them to the public free of charge” as though to say that they are NOT distributed free of charge. This is an outright falsehood. Jehovah’s Witnesses do NOT charge for these magazines. They do, however accept freewill donations from those that wish to show their appreciation for the magazines.
If you are going to make such statements, make sure they are based on the truth.

Any magazine that is given away free of charge has a massive advantage over one that has a sale price. Millions of these magazines each month are simply thrown away without even being read.
Alan, mind you, it is not given away just like that, but to those interested in reading it. If you have the habit of throwing it away, not everyone do that. I can assure you that 99% of the figure ready it one way or the other.
If next time you are being offered, and you tactfully say you don’t want to read, watch whether it will be force on you.. From there you will know that, it is being given to those who will actually read it.

The WTS is a non-profit organization. For sure there is a cost to production like: papers, inks, machine, manpower and etc Yet still people behind the publishing were all volunteers and baptized JWS, no one is being paid like common employment and the source of cost being used were whole-hearted donations from among members.(no tithes).

You have kept track? How? True some are thrown away, but you speak without knowledge. Millions are read and have changed lives for the better. THIS I have seen with my own eyes, I am not “guessing”.
Millions of these magazines reach isolated people and those living in desperate circumstances. They are clean and uplifting. They remind all who do read them that there is a living God and he is interested in every living soul, irrespective of race or language. Remember Jesus illustration of the one missing sheep. The 99 were safe but the Shepard went to great lengths to find that one lost sheep and when he did it was a time to celebrate and be joyful. If just 10 people read the magazine and return to their God, the millions in the landfill are of little consequence. Each person must choose the path they will walk. But every choice has consequences. This magazine is a gift to mankind to help return to spiritual matters of importance, it’s honest it uses many Bible passages per subject. It makes a good heart think deeply.

Please provide proof that these magazines are being thrown away? Matthew 24:14 is being fulfilled, and not ANY magazine given away for free has a massive advantage, especially in the digital era. I know, because I make my living as a Digital Content Strategist and Developer for one of the largest software companies in the world, and that’s not how print or digital content works. The rapid growth of Jehovah’s Witnesses around the Globe, at 8.5 million and counting, is proof that people are reading these magazines, and Jehovah is filling in a gap for so many people. They may be thrown away after they have been read. Also, I know several people who read the magazines being discarded and then they looked how they could get the magazine on regular bases. Nowadays our website is translated into 1021 languages, so people read the magazine on their devices, and that all over the world, and free of charge. JW.org has something for everyone, even animated movies which are loved by children and parents. Especially now, many people want to understand how to deal with these problems.

The thing is Jehovahs Witnesses don’t just give them out to anyone and everyone .They give these magazine to people that say they would be interested in reading the information .They consider the information in these magazines as life saving information.It is to many people.They are not going to just give them to people who don’t show a genuine interest .The information is to valuable to be giving it to people who aren’t going to truely appreciate it and just throw it in the garbage.There are alot of people out there that are finding these magazines refreshing, with information that is beneficial for everyday life now.

Yes, it us true, these magazines are more valuable, than the money that people would pay for them. Although there is a cost to print them, they are given only, to those that are willing to read its info and free of charge.

That’s a good point. It sounds a little crazy that JWs would spend all that money printing magazines and ALL that time translating them into so many different languages and I’ve read both the watchtower and awake and they don’t even have advertisements in them. Haha it must be by divine intervention because what company would go to all that trouble and not want to make a fortune from it?

Well is not for sale. Is a magazine that everyone have to read some, it help me know what the Bible says and what to do as Christian. Watchtower and Awake is the best magazine ever. The best magazines by far I’ve ever read ! I had to drop out of school 2 weeks into 10th grade and never finished High School and at the age of 36 I went back to get my diploma, I started reading these 2 magazines in 1981 when I was offered these at the age of 20 and read no other magazines simply because I hated to read .
Due to the information over years of reading these 2 when I took my exam for my diploma I was shocked when I received my scores I scored the highest grade average except one subject and that one subject was math lol .
The topics in these magazines covered every subject one could ever imagine and the educational benefit was beyond compare to anything else I had ever learned for that I am so grateful and humbled .
So it’s not even near true that these end up in landfills since we only share these with people who truly want to read and want these 2 publications.🙏
Congrats. Hopefully you continue your education and go to college. Never stop learning, and it’s not “research” if it’s from only one author/ organization. Think about it really well when your encouraged to not look “outside” at any other information.

I know many people who read the Watchtower and Awake magazines but do not belong to the Jehovah Witnesses, because the magazines are clean and offer a lot of information that helps them. All for free! Some people do give donations, but it is not mandatory.

The numbers however impressive they are, are not absolute. There is NO way of knowing accurately how many magazines are actually read by members or by the public. Placements are Not always the same every month? Do they round up , or round down to the nearest million ?? A truthful, absolute, ‘real number’ for example would be 60,476221 … this is because Watchtower (as do all other printing companies referenced above), can only accurately count ‘what the printing press number’ is when they finish a ‘run’, or what they ‘ship out the door’. ‘Printed’ is not the same as ‘read’. For the past 5 decades ( that i have been a publisher and sometimes a pioneer ) my family and fellow witnesses have been picking up our orders of monthly quotas at the kingdom hall literature counter. All witnesses donate at the counter/ ‘Worldwide contribution box’ . Then we also give any donation money we receive when we place the magazines…( in effect the magazines get paid for twice ). My briefcase always contained old magazines every month. Our territory was very diverse and so we also had Italian magazines, Mandarin, Urdu, Tagalog, Greek.. etc… Many times these were thrown out due to not finding our return visits at home or lost interest. Or being sick and not going out that month. Magazines DO end up in the garbage especially when i had to clean out the storage room at the kingdom hall every year. The amount of literature being thrown out is staggering. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either un-informed or just not being truthful . As a witness, i did not read every edition. I know that i am not the only one. I’ve seen articles come and go. Any good information worth reading, printed or otherwise, should pass the test of time. ( with the exception of technology magazines that need to constantly keep up with new inventions ) Please ask yourself : if we were to pickup an old edition of the watchtower or awake ( say 1870s or 1920s or 1960s, 70s 80s…etc.. ) would that information still be accurate? Truth be told , these older issues contain rather embarrasing predictions and outlandish reasonings. As a witnesss i was shocked when i read these. There is Very little, if any, information that one could look back to with pride. Many bible passaged used in the magazines , have been misrepresented and quoted out of context. This will always be the case because Watchtower Org insists on reading the bible in an Eisegetical manner, rather than Exegetical. Thus the constant changes and flip flop on doctrines and predictions. I have had many judicial meetings regarding this. But if you “want to have your ears tickled”, then keep bragging about the biggest numbers. Also, doesnt the ‘large number’ lead off into distruction?… but small and narrow to everlasting life ?
Let’s see. I’m sure if I printed 40 million publications and had 8.5 million people as free labour to distribute said publication, I could top the list, regardless of the content or the message inside.
On a side note, that’s 4.7 placements per free worker. If that was my full time job, my boss would’ve fired me by now for only giving out 4.7 copies of said free publication in a month. Seems more like the workers are lazy. This publishing company has a massive culture issue if the workers aren’t motivated to do more than that.

I was seated on the toilet one day maaaaany years ago and I picked up the closest reading material I could find and it happened to be a Watchtower that my Grandfather would leave for the family every month so I cracked it open to pass the time and read an article about Jesus Christ. I literally almost fell off the can when the realization hit me that Jesus was not only REAL but 100% correct. Thank you Jah for the unconventional ways you sometimes open our eyes.

Wszystko dzisiaj kosztuje, więc świadkowie Jehowy ceniąc ich wartość jako prawdę opartą na Biblii i ponad czasowych zasad natchnionych przez Jehowę Boga , sami finansują ich drukowanie na zasadzie dobrowolnych datków ale cenią sobie takie datki od osób postronnych , którzy je czytaja. Lepiej rozmawiać ze SJ ,niż bazować na opiniach ludzi , którzy ich nie czytali. Pozdrawiam .

I thought it might be helpful here, and encouraging,after reading some of the other comments, to include a personal experience. One day as we were out sharing “The good news of The Kingdom”, we came to the door of a woman who told us off in no uncertain terms! She was physically handicapped, and intensely bitter. She kept exclaiming forcefully…. That,… if….. there’s a God, as we claim there is, then, why are there so many suffering people? And, if God exists, WHY IS HE SO SLOW, WHY DOESN’T HE DO SOMETHING?!…. Well, as it happened, that month our Watchtower magazine was discussing that very issue, and we shared one brief Scripture featured in it, with her, in response to her obviously heartfelt question. It was….. 2 Peter 3:9…..”Jehovah is not slow concerning his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with you because he does not desire anyone to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentence.” It was startling to see the instant change- that, – that, -one – passage made in her! She gasped and exclaimed…. Why did I not know this Scripture,?! Why did my minister not tell me this? – WHY?! – Then with smiles she welcomed us in, to discuss more on the issue. She seemed most happy to show us such affectionate hospitality. And when we left, she was beaming and appreciative in direct contrast to the way she had first recieved us. She was, in short, happy. Some of you have no doubt experienced similar things. Like how just one Scripture, or one magazine, can – instantly – change an unhappy, bitter, aggressive life….. Into a happy, peaceful, gracious one. It happens, and I’ve seen it more than once. How does it make a person feel about sharing the Watchtower with others? If all I had ever seen was that one example, it would be enough to tell me how worth it the work is. A life was helped, changed. And I just feel so deeply thankful and glad that the magazine was put right into her hands with its life changing possibilities, that day we came to her house – with the Watchtower. I think of her often, and how the God she wondered about helped her to understand him better. And, it’s there….. Free….. For whoever wants it. If you don’t, that’s you exercising the free will God himself gave to one and all. We are fine with that. But millions of hungry, desperate, seeking peoples do want it, and what’s wrong with that? Mt. 24:14 is being accomplished in a thorough, quiet, and dignified manner. And people are given the chance to accept or reject,…. But,….. The chance- is- there. &, That this is a valued magazin? Yes, ,…… What’s wrong with that? The other publications I saw listed here seem in large part to be nice wholesome reading, I appreciate that and feel no need to attack…. Them. In fact I subscribe to several,& I’m glad to- see- that such wholesome reading…. Is….. Still popular. But,….. When I think of that woman we met at the doors,….. Say we’d been – selling–any of those other magazines, what do you think? Would she have been exclaiming :”THANK YOU FOR THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTIONS!!!” Well, maybe, that- has- happened to some magazine salesman, somewhere, sometime. Maybe the National Geographic changed several somebody’s lives for the better, I could see Tha and appreciate it, I’ve loved it since I was a child. And, The Watchtower? We experience such things so – often – when we share it! And it’s appreciated so much simply because it does that, it helps. It gives people a – sound- reason to hope for a better future for planet earth and its people’s,- because-it is sharing the word of God. Many…. value…. That. Please, what is wrong with something that can do that for our neighbors? If they want it, why shouldn’t they have it? Why? A good gift, a fine present, hey, just enjoy,…. Or don’t, it’s your choice. May all “have peace within you,” …. lots of love being sent your way,….. “hold fast to what is – fine-“! (1Thess.5 :21)🎈

I don’t see comments about the other magazines. Just the top two. No one up here has to defend better home and gardens,AARP or the others. If you don’t want to read a magazine and you have bad feelings or experiences with reading one. Don’t read it and keep the negativity to yourself. Spread love, peace, joy and happiness not the negative stuff. Keep that mess to yourself. Or go see a therapist!
How do you know they are simply thrown away without being read? You may throw yours away without reading them, but how do you know others don’t read them first and then recycle?
I enjoy reading #1 and #2 I can see why its popular. It gives hope to a ugly world. Things that were wrong a long time ago are now right and the people who are trying to do right are now looked upon as wrong and a horrible person. Let it end soon.

That is the purpose of the literature. To provide insight into events occurring today, and provide direction to a more possess future ahead.

It is understandable to hear from garbage workers that they found magazines in the dumpster because after reading he/she may discard it for no place to store. The point is the publisher rated the two magazines Watchtower and Awake as top 1 and 2, respectively. Those two magazines are read by more than 8 millions JWs throughout the world, the figure does not include those are not baptized.
Sure there are more than 8 millions because they used it in their weekly study of the Bible.
Whether others don’t like to read the magazines doesn’t affect the zeal of JWs to distribute because those magazines turn their lives to know the end of the last days of the present wicked world system.
Nothing to fear Armageddon that the magazines explained only the wicked shall be destroyed, so, if you’re not one of those to be destroyed you should be glad, instead.
Even this Covid pandemic don’t deter them to distribute the magazines as published online in their website jw.org.
Bear their zeal to reach you with the message of after destruction of the present system, the earth will be worked by the survivors into paradise. No need for discussion how to restore the climate because after Armageddon there will no longer be illegal loggers. The Holy Bible in Psalm 37:9-11 states:
“For evil men will be done away with, But those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth. Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.”
And Jesus at the Mount of Olives said: “Happy are the mild-tempered, since they will inherit the earth.” -Matthew 5:5
Likewise, no more Covid-19, because no one will die due to inherited sin from Adam and Eve.
